Building construction urgently needs security and energy conservation

2025-07-25

With the increasing awareness of environmental protection and the continuous emergence of advanced technologies, the green building industry is showing a rapid development trend, gradually forming a prosperous market.

In smart and green building projects, reliable physical security systems including energy-saving monitoring and access control equipment are important components of successful building management systems. For security products used in green buildings, "energy conservation and environmental protection" are given top priority, with the goal of significantly reducing energy consumption costs while improving user experience and minimizing operating costs.

It is understood that in smart buildings, building professionals allocate an average of 5% of the entire building cost budget to security systems. Compared to building costs, the average expenditure on security systems is relatively low, but having a reliable security system in smart buildings is essential.

There are mainly two forms of intelligent building system integration:

One approach is to integrate data from security systems, building automation systems, and fire protection systems and manage them on a unified platform;

Another approach is to integrate building automation, security, fire protection, information equipment systems, and information application systems to form an IBMS system, which is controlled by a unified platform. The latter has more integrated systems and is generally suitable for buildings with special requirements such as banks and enterprises. From this perspective, in the system integration of building construction, the security system is one of the indispensable subsystems. In the past, physical security was only added as a supplement after the main design of the building project was completed. However, nowadays, with the increasing emphasis on security and the increasing complexity of buildings, security design can be involved in the entire lifecycle of the building at an early stage.

The security industry, as a material life demand in a stage of human life development, has experienced rapid growth in recent years, resulting in an astonishing number of energy consuming devices. According to incomplete statistics, there are currently over 1.2 million security systems of various risk levels built nationwide, and over 200000 new or renovated security systems are built each year. The large quantity and scale undoubtedly pose new demands for energy-saving construction of security systems.

For example, with the rise of large-scale projects, the application of video surveillance systems is becoming increasingly popular, leading to an increasing amount of backend storage and higher demand for energy consumption.

According to Xu Tao, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Guanlin Yingke Intelligent System Integration Co., Ltd., "Video surveillance in security systems is developing towards high-definition, and energy consumption is also increasing accordingly. For example, high-definition images add pressure to transmission cables and backend storage. This means that security systems will rank among the top three in terms of energy consumption in the entire weak current system of buildings, and energy conservation in security systems will be elevated to an important position in building energy conservation http://jishu.cps.com.cn/ylal/znly/2012/0806/3NMDAwMDUzNzQ3NQ.html )
